A video under 30 seconds or the first 30 seconds of a longer video can be turned into a GIF and then shared.
To get the most out of GIFs, try to use them only to show the steps for how to do something. Be concise! ilos creates GIFs up to 30 seconds, but 20-25 seconds should be the max you shoot for.
Generate a GIF: To show how simple the process is, here's how to make a GIF...with a GIF!
- Record a video.
- Click More and select Generate GIF.
- After a few seconds, your GIF will be ready.
Share the GIF: You can either download the GIF or share it directly using one of the the following options. When sharing directly, be sure that video Permissions are set.
Option 1: Many text editors let you share a GIF URL directly and will auto-expand the image (Note: this method will allow you to use our Replace Video function to update your GIF).
Option 2: If your editor doesn't auto-expand the image, you can often select Insert Image, and insert the URL (Note: this method will allow you to use our Replace Video function to update your GIF).
Option 3: If neither of those is an option, you can simply right-click the GIF from ilos and select Copy image. Then paste it to the text field you're working in (Note: this will not update if you use our Replace Video function).
Option 4: You can also copy and send (ie. email) the GIF link; however, this method requires the GIF to be opened in a new tab and is not quite as ideal (Note: this method will allow you to use our Replace Video function to update your GIF).
